Gov. Bush Calls Reports Of Voter Registration Fraud 'Bizarre'
5:41 pm EDT October 20, 2004 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Gov. Jeb Bush says he's bothered by reports of possible fraud involving some voter registration forms that have been turned in across the state.
Election supervisors in a few counties have reported that the party affiliation of some voters have been changed without their approval.
One of those cases was in Alachua County.
The elections supervisor there gave more than 500 voter registration forms to local prosecutors. Some of the people whose names were on those forms say their party affiliation was fraudulently changed to Republican.
The governor says he's troubled by those reports. He calls it 'bizarre' and questions whether it's part of an organized effort to cause problems in this election."
