Three Kansas City-area residents are accused of voting in both Kansas and Missouri during the fall, 2002 elections.
Federal authorities in Missouri have charged 68-year-old James Scherzer of Kansas City, Kansas, and 39-year-old Lorraine Goodrich of Prairie Village, Kansas, with registering to vote in Missouri. They're accused of using bogus addresses.
Officials in Kansas charge 67-year-old Leslie McIntosh of Kansas City, Missouri, with registering to vote in Kansas. He allegedly used the address of commercial property he owns in Wyandotte County.
If convicted, each person would face up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines. The charges are part of an increased focus on election fraud as this year's general election nears.
